At a retail price of $1,299 when it was available, the Woodpecker offered outstanding value. It competed confidently with more expensive ribbons and condensers alike. The active circuitry ensures consistent gain structure across setups, making it a reliable choice for professionals and advanced project studios alike.

My only personal criticism relates to the gold trim. While it may appeal to some, I would have preferred a matte black or brushed metal finish. That said, sound should always take precedence over style, and this mic’s sonic quality speaks for itself.

Although discontinued, the Blue Woodpecker remains one of the few ribbon microphones that manages to be both vintage-inspired and future-ready. If you see one available on the secondhand market, don’t hesitate.

This is not just a visually striking microphone. It is a serious recording tool that earns its place in any studio setup.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely. In fact, I would buy a second unit for stereo tracking. The Woodpecker continues to deliver outstanding results.
